A brief introduction to some of our key team members…
Marilé Borden (Founder, Creative Director)
A liberal arts graduate of Colby College, Marilé has anything but the traditional Art Director’s background—which tends to come in handy when trying to solve clients’ business challenges. Since 1993, she’s helped companies large and small, local and global, generate leads, increase sales and build brand equity. She spent eight years in the agency circuit, including a 4-year stint with world-renowned Leo Burnett, before she founded Metal Creative in 2001. While Marilé will tell you that a Gold Award for packaging design was certainly a “nice to have,” the accomplishment she is most proud of is a 28% response rate on a Direct Marketing campaign when industry standard was less than 3%.
When she’s not chasing down clients or deadlines, Marilé can be found at home in Northborough, MA, chasing her two kids (Jack, 11 and Lia, 8) or on the triathlon circuit chasing a new personal best.
Marty Buss Smith (Account Director)
Marty started her career at various Chicago- and Boston-based advertising agencies, including Leo Burnett Technology Group. However, she is more fulfilled serving a variety of clients as an independent marketing consultant for the past ten years. She has almost 20 years of experience working with B2B and B2C companies, executing a range of marketing communications programs including Branding, Marketing Strategy Development, Marketing Communications Planning, Marketplace and Competitive Analyses and Social Media Marketing. With all this experience, Marty KNOWS how to keep Creatives in check, and clients happy—though sometimes she’ll tell you that’s harder than making own her eight- and ten-year old boys tow the line!
Holly Madden (Lead Copywriter)
A senior and seasoned copywriter, Holly has worked in agencies and elsewhere for over 20 years on clients including Poland Springs, Volkswagon, and AT&T. Throughout her career, companies have hired Holly to “speak” the language of their target audience and to communicate to them in ways that reflect a genuine understanding of their needs and aspirations. She is fluent in the language of athletes, tired Moms, weekend warriors, software engineers, jittery hospital patients, CEOs, CTOs, CIOs, CFOs, Procurement Directors, Millennials, HR Managers, blue collar workers, entrepreneurs, foodies, husbands and boyfriends, empty nesters, lab rats, retirees, Type As, helicopter parents, high school seniors, physicians, vodka connoisseurs, and discriminating tourists, just to name a few.
When she’s not running from client to client, Holly can be found running marathons near and far, or running after her two active boys on the beach.
